How to give your pet a good bath?

04 January 2024

Bathing your pet is a must for every owner, breeder, or groomer. So, here are some things to know about making bath time enjoyable and effective for your furry friend. Did you know that skin and fur products can get into your pup's or cat’s skin in just a few seconds?

Picking the right shampoos, conditioners, and masks is a big deal. It can affect your pup's health and how their fur and skin look. Nobody wants harsh chemicals going into their pets body!

How do you pick the right fur care products?

Pet shampoos, conditioners, and masks should be as natural as possible, with no silicone, mineral oil, or SLS. These ingredients dry out fur, block pores, and make fur and skin problems worse. Fur care products should be not only natural but also work well. When you read the label, look for natural ingredients like Coco-Glucoside (a natural and gentle foam), honey, almond oil, herbal extracts, or essential oils like rosemary, lavender, ylang-ylang, neroli, myrrh, bergamot, rosehip, aloe vera, lemongrass – all safe and effective for pups.

3-step bath time plan

We strongly recommend Tauro Pro Line grooming products. They have up to 97% natural ingredients and have plant and herbal extracts in them. They work extremely well but in a natural way. How do you use them? It's easy – just follow the simple 3-step plan:

Step 1 - Cleaning. Whatever fur or skin problem you're dealing with, or if it's just a regular bath, start by cleaning the fur: get rid of dirt, dust, and grease with a deep-cleansing shampoo. It not only cleans but also opens up the hair for the next step.

Step 2 - Function. After the hair is open, use a shampoo specifically made for the results you want. It could be nourishing, moisturizing, repairing – depends on the problem. These shampoos fill the hair with nutrients and beneficial ingredients.

Step 3 - Fixation. Once the hair is clean and nourished, it's time to lock in the results and close the hair scales. Use the conditioner or a mask for this, and you can even add some extra pampering like elixirs or coat oil.

We love Tauro Pro Line products, and our clients' reviews back it up too! An added bonus for these cosmetics – they are extra gentle not only to the pets' skin and coat but to our hands also! We know a groomer's hands are special - we've got to take care of them too.

How often should you give your pup a bath?

We recommend bathing dogs every week, no matter the breed. A weekly bath with natural fur care products keeps your pets skin happy, helps hair grow healthy, gets rid of dead hair, and stops tangles and bad smells. For cats, bathe as necessary. Go for Tauro Pro Line grooming products because they will make your pet coat so soft and silky that you won't even need to brush it during the week.
